DAY 3 INSIGHTS FROM “IF WITCHES WERE HORSES” – A NOVEL WRITTEN BY: Kolade Segun-Okeowo (KSO)

PUNCTUALITY IS THE SOUL OF BUSINESS (EPISODE THREE)

BIBLE VERSE: For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light. Luke 16:7 (NKJV)

From our days in the primary we were made to cram the phrase “Punctuality is the soul of business” Not only did we cram it, we were made to pay dearly if and when we flout the rules of punctuality. God respects punctuality and gives honour to time. This, he displayed when in seven days; he created the earth, evolving different items at different times with precision as though he worked with a schedule. On the seventh day, He rested. That is the template God expects humans to work with.

It is shocking to see the orderliness and punctuality that works in the kingdom of darkness. Agents of the Queen of the Coast respond to meeting with such alacrity that defies human explanation. Their appearance and disappearance from the meeting venue was tied to precise timing, even to the seconds. That is something we all must learn from. Being a Christian does not confer on you the right to play with or neglect time. Many are yet to imbibe the value and quality of time, so they attend meetings without the consciousness of punctuality.

On several occasions, I have been invited to programmes only to arrive earlier than the organizers. On one funny occasion, I had driven to the programme venue to meet it locked up. I called the organisers only to be told “We are on our way Sir” This is not good enough.

There is a trend called African time. This wrong culture and trend is major amongst the factors that have brought Africa to the least position amongst the comity of continents. The trend must change and it must start from you and I. Let us respect time and imbibe punctuality.
