TOPIC: TEST EVERY SPIRIT (EPISODE TWELVE)
BIBLE VERSE: Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1 (KJV)
After success is one of the times the devil likes to attack or deceive children of God. Can you imagine the success Morakinyo had started recording in the missionary work at the village. Supports came from left, right and centre. 52 souls were baptized in one day. He was happy, and then Oyinkan (Hagatha) came into his life. This tells us that we should keep our guard all of the time, especially after major successes.
Morakinyo was so carried away with the lie of the devil. He listened to the sweet nonsense the princess of devil told him and he swallowed it hook, line and sinker. He didnt cross check, he didnt pray about it. He never gave the word of God above any thought (1 John 4:1)
Did you say that was stupid of him? I think so too. But, wait a minute! Have you given it a thought “Can this happen to me?” Shhh! Dont be quick to say God forbidIt can never happen to me” My point is this, never be too carried away to inquire if it is from God, no matter how appealing a thing may be.
Bayo introduced Helen (not real names) to me as his fiancée. I asked if he had prayed about it and he replied in the affirmative. I had a check in my spirit, so I told him to keep praying. Bayo had once caught a friend; John in the act of fornication with another sister and reported. Since then, John had been bitter towards Bayo. He therefore arranged that Helen, one of his numerous girlfriends lure Bayo to sleep with her to balance the equation in the name of THUS SAITH THE LORD
There is need to always cross check all THUS SAITH THE LORD with God and test every spirit. This was the major undoing of Morakinyo in the novel.
