BIBLE VERSE: The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jer 17: 9 (KJV)

The Yoruba people of South West Nigeria often say ‘the heart is deep!’ If only we have access to see what goes on in men’s heart! My prayer is that God will keep us from the enemies we take for friends in Jesus name. Oyinkansola pretended to be innocent and Morakinyo was deceived.

The heart of a man is desperately wicked, the Bible says “who can know it?” and I will answer “no one, except God” The reason we must always consult God in all our dealings with men. He alone sees into the depth of the hearts of men.

The devil thrives in secrecy. There is need to watch it. The cases of rape that are rampant these days thrive because of the secrecy that is usually involved. Once a victim is able to speak up, he/she will be free from the criminal. We need to teach our children to come out and steer clear of things done in secret and learn to confide in us.

It’s difficult to imagine that Morakinyo could accept all that suggestions of Oyinkan without seeking counsel from anyone. How could he have accepted to marry Oyinkan in a secret wedding right there in the village without getting in touch with his Pastor and relations? It is absurd.

However, you need to check the number of times you have secretly connived with others to do some shady things without seeking counsel. The Bible counsels thus: “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety” (Prov. 11:14)

Don’t assume every one with sweet tongues and brilliant ideas mean well. Remember, the heart is deep. Seek counsel and avoid secret dealings.
